About Us.
The NCIC Climbing wall was in is a purpose built Indoor climbing wall located in the sports hall of the North Coast Integrated College in Coleraine. It was completed in September 2016.
The wall has seven lines ranging from 5m to 8m high, two of which include an overhang. At this time it is a top rope facility only. The purpose of developing the facility was to provide the colleges students with an indoor wall for use in PE and to provide a local facility for the wider Coleraine region community. The wall is open on a weekly basis for the public on Wednesday evening, and for an advanced group on Monday evening. |
North Coast Climbers started as an informal group of individuals who met weekly at the NCIC climbing wall.
By late 2018 the group had developed a strong core of climbers, of all ages, with a passion for climbing. With encouragement from Mountaineering Ireland Youth development we elected to become a formal club affiliated to Mountaineering Ireland in December 2018. Our membership includes beginners through to experienced climbers. We climb weekly at the NCIC wall, many of the more able members make a weekly trip to the Foyle Arena and we have ventured out onto real rock. The club aims to expand our activity to include more outdoor climbing, to formally train up more of our members to be able to lead and coach and to take part in competition and climbing trips further afield. |
